We collect only what we need to run the game, we never sell your data, and you can delete your account any time. Here is exactly what that means.

This policy explains what information Wetin You Know? (“we”, “us”) collects and how we use it. It is written in plain English on purpose.

01What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
  • Profile photo: only if you add one. It is resized and stored on our server.
  • Game data: scores, rounds played, streaks, badges, chosen host, coin balance and coin history, tournament results, referral code.
  • Payment records: if you buy coins we keep the purpose, amount and Paystack reference. Your card details go to Paystack, never to us.
  • Messages: anything you send through the Contact box.
  • Technical data: your IP address, browser type and a random device identifier we generate, used only to keep the Game secure and to prevent multiple-account abuse.

02How we use it

  • To run your account, save your progress and show leaderboards (your name and photo appear on the Ranks board).
  • To credit coins you earn or buy, and to give access to tournaments and the Premium pass.
  • To send account emails: your sign-up code, welcome message and password resets. We do not send marketing email unless you opt in.
  • To detect cheating, bots and duplicate accounts.
  • To answer your messages and improve the Game.

03Your voice

When you answer by speaking, your browser or phone turns speech into text (Chrome and Safari use their own speech services for this). We receive only the text of your answer and keep it with your round results. We do not record or store audio of your voice. The host’s voice is generated audio produced from our question text.

04Cookies and local storage

We use one login cookie to keep you signed in, and your device’s local storage to remember small preferences (theme, chosen host, sound settings, the tab you were on, and recent questions) so you don’t see repeats. We do not use advertising cookies or trackers.

05Who we share with

Only the services that make the Game work:

  • Paystack: payments (they receive your email and the amount).
  • Our email provider: to deliver account emails.
  • ElevenLabs: to generate the host’s voice from our question text (no personal data is sent).
  • Cloudflare: security and bot protection in front of the site.

Sponsored tournaments and videos may appear in the Game. Sponsors get aggregate numbers (how many people played or watched), never your personal details. We will share information if the law requires it. We do not sell your data.

06How long we keep it

For as long as your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account we remove your personal data within 30 days. Payment records may be kept longer where the law requires. Anonymous game statistics may be kept.

07Your choices

  • Update your name, photo and password in Profile → Settings.
  • Play as a guest without an account (scores stay on your device only).
  • Ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete your account, through the Contact box or the email below.
  • Turn voice input off in Settings and type your answers instead.
We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and, where it applies, the GDPR. You can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you think we have mishandled your data.

08Under 18s

Accounts, coin purchases and tournaments are for adults. If you are under 18, play as a guest and do not create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18 we will close it.
